Dynamos legend David George dies

Former Dynamos player and coach David George has died.

Nicknamed Broom Boy, George died after a battle with long illness on Saturday.

He was 71.

Born in Mbare, George played for Dynamos in the 70s and was part of a trailblazing side which won five out six available cups in 1976, namely the league title, Nyore Nyore Charity Shield, BAT Rosebowl, Castle Cup and Southern African Champions of Champions Cup in 1976.

He would later serve as their coach, most famously as Sunday Chidzambwa’s assistant when they reached the CAF Champions League final in 1998.

Nine years later, he would help Dembare to the semi-finals of the same tournament under David Mandigora.
