According to Forbes.com the richest African is Aliko Dangote. The Nigerian is estimated to be worth a cool $10.1 billion. With business interests in Cement, flour milling, sugar refines and salt processing.
The study also noted that Egypt has the most number of billionaires in Africa, with 7.The Sawiris family which at one point owned a Majority stake in Telecel Zimbabwe and the Mansours. South Africa has four. All 40 members are men with an average age of 61.
Although Forbes compiled this list based mainly on listed companies, we all know that in Africa no one really gives you accurate figure of their wealth. We could definitely add a few zero’s to all those figures and include a lot more people on that list who have much more. Just to show you how off the mark this list was there were no Zimbabweans mentioned and we all know there is at least one or two billionaires in Zimbabwe.
