AUGUST 2015 REVIEW: Mass work dismissals, Babyface & Toni in Harare and more

August is known traditionally as the windy month although global warming has switched it up a bit.

TB Joshua claimed to have prophesied where the debris of the missing MH370 plan would be found.

Cecil The Lion’s brother Jericho was reported dead but really wasn’t. And speaking of Jericho an advertising agency, Jericho Advertising was caught up in a plagiarism storm when they put out an ad referencing the two lions.

And loads of jobs were being lost. First NRZ and ZINARA got rid of hundreds. Then afterwards ZBC dismissed its own hundreds. And the public broadcaster closed its Gweru station. The Harare City Council fired 3,000. Then the government told them to undo that.

Then the Labour Law Ammendment Bill went through parliament. It went through the Senate. And then the president signed it into law.

Highlanders notched up a rare victory over rivals Dynamos in a cup game.

A new free legal reference website The Law Hub was launched.

Kirsty Coventry qualified for the 2016 Olympics.

Zimbabwe-linked football player Tendayi Darikwa joined Burnley but the reason he has not turned out for the Warriors is so sad.

Zimbabwe moved to ban school holiday lessons.

Big Nuz’s R. Mashesha died.

Warriors legend Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo died.

We found out that a Rita Ora/Chris Brown song called Body On Me was co-produced by a Zimbabwean Tinashe ‘T-Collar’ Sibanda.

We also found out that a Zimbabwean worked on the Ant-Man movie.

So Zimbabwean NFL-player Stansly Maponga had to apologise for those squirrels and stuff comments  but he got something wrong.

We talked to US-based actor Tongayi Chirisa exclusively talked to us about acting opposite LL Cool J plus being audtioned by Angella Basset and the whole thing with Zim artists in the diaspora not being united.

We revealed that DJ Munya was now on ZiFM.

Mokoomba will perform at the Apollo  Theater in New York.

Toni Braxton arrived in Zimbabwe. And the Babyface straight after her. And then they performed.. this is our review. We also have pics of the Babyface performance.  And here are pics of the Toni Braxton performance.

Then there was a weird demand by fired Town Clerk Tendai Mahachi for $3million as an exit package.

Ah and Newsbae, Rumbi Takawira who had been sacked by ZBC returned to News Hour.

Some good news though. Zimbo Jam founder Fungai Tichawangana and his wife Verity welcomed their first child.

Geeks told us that single people are as happy alone as they are in a relationship.
