Zimbabwean Entrepreneurs invited to apply to be part of #ECAfrica 2022 to pivot their businesses

Pan African visionaries are seizing the opportunities to tap into the digital highway technology enables to bridge the gap on expanding their footprint to a wider more inclusive narrative around Entrepreneurship which is fast becoming one of the surest ways to solve global unemployment, a shared problem across the world.

As the world adapts to a new normal, technology and digital will continue to remain an underused opportunity to profile and force a shift in how we as African content creators can better serve our continent to unlock storytelling from source and create more enabling opportunities to connect to new markets across wider Pan African markets to drive African entrepreneurship.

Pivoting to Southern African markets with Zimbabwe is a priority focus for Entrepreneur Connect Africa to champion change by connecting entrepreneurial markets to leverage business collaboration in the continent and through partnerships in diverse media markets, validating how African innovation is driving dynamic change.

What started as a hashtag #ECAfrica is now a strong Pan African movement with a network that was initially started as an online Twitter conversation with active participation by entrepreneurs globally sharing their experiences, ECAfrica then evolved and introduced a series of events, Masterclasses, roundtables, and the inaugural #ECAfrica100 where 100 entrepreneurs based in South Africa, making a difference through transformation and economic empowerment was profiled with their stories digitally packaged and distributed on various digital platforms.

“Scaling #ECAfrica into Southern Africa has been a long-standing strategic decision we made in 2019 but with Covid19 hitting entrepreneurs hard, our plans were put on hold as most SMMEs were mainly focused on trying to navigate and stay afloat amidst the pandemic woes,” says Vanessa Perumal, founding member of #ECAfrica and Managing director of JT Communication Solutions.

“Zimbabwe is a critical trading partner for Southern Africa and aligning our resources in areas we can influence. Our authenticity in delivering disruptive Marketing, Communication, and PR solutions, using technology to connect African entrepreneurship to global markets and penetrate new markets is the value we bring to this ecosystem,” says Perumal.

The #ECAfrica100 series exists to facilitate business conversations of national importance to profile and promote entrepreneurial stories, highlighting the importance of dialogue around issues of collaborative enterprise in Africa, especially in declining economies.

Entrepreneur Connect Africa is bent on harnessing the power of tech and creating an Entrepreneurial ecosystem that encourages collaborations and Intra-African Trade among businesses. In Addition, ECAfrica aims to leverage digital tools to:

  • —Create collaborative content within an Africans for Africa network.
  • —Increase exposure to markets and drive sales for businesses to thrive.
  • —Profile African entrepreneurs impacting real change in the sectors they are operating in.
  • —Address factors such as market access, profiling and PR.

“We are positioned as a catalyst in using digital to minimise barriers to entrepreneurial success, from how we access and consume information, to how we share, learn, communicate, collaborate and interact,” says Perumal.

The Inaugural #ECAfricaZim 2022 cohort is looking to invite and profile SMMEs in Zimbabwe who are excelling, job-creating, socially, and economically transforming in communities as they conduct their operations.

#ECAfrica , powered by JT Communication Solutions has partnered with Zimbabwean-born, budding entrepreneur, Isabel Tapfumaneyi to put together #ECAfricaZim. This is a moment worth noting as JT Comms, as an organisation is living up to its core value of empowerment. Tapfumaneyi has worked as a marketing manager for JT Comms for over six years and is now proud to be the Zimbabwean partner of Entrepreneur Connect Africa Zimbabwe.

This milestone is a true cause for celebration for me as I get to be part of the change I want to see. There are a lot of great entrepreneurs whose stories could inspire and empower other entrepreneurs and it is an honour to be able to walk the journey and be part of a movement using digital as an enabler to position excellence and foster key dialogues around issues affecting SMMEs in Zimbabwe and solutions thereof,” shares Isabel.

Entrepreneurs who are keen to be considered for this opportunity can contact [email protected] and share their profiles and motivation on why they should be considered. Nominations are welcome we encourage individuals or businesses making the recommendation to also motivate and share Nominee bios where possible by 15 March 2022. Partners who would like to join JT Comms are also invited to be part of this digital storytelling entrepreneurial profiling drive.
