Mnangagwa announces fuel price increase

Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced an increase in the price of fuel.

In a snap announcement from State House Mnangagwa said:

With effect from midnight tonight, a fuel pump price of $3.11 per litre of petrol and $3.31 of diesel will come into effect. These prices are predicated on ruling exchange rate of 1:1 between the bond note and the United States Dollar and also on the need to keep fuel retailers viable.

You would think that is the end of it right? Wait for it:

Guests of government by way of foreign mission and other registered foreign and bodies and tourists will fuel and refuel at designated points at $1.24 per litre for diesel and $1.32 per litre for petrol upon production proper indentification documents.

And if you thought that was it, there is more:

Government does not expect and will not allow businesses to trigger a new round of price increases.

Breathe fam. Breathe… 1:1 is different for locals and foreigners… it’s weird fam. It is officially weird.
