Ignore government ban – EcoCash

EcoCash has hit back at the ban on mobile money transactions by the government.

In a statement, the company was dismissive of the ban calling it purported. It further stated that it was regulated by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and a communication of that significance and nature would come from them.

The directive was issued by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services. That raised a few questions as to why it came from that office in particular.

What will be certain, whatever happens, this weekend, people will be trading cautiously on the platform.
