That is how long Nigeria’s Federal Government kept its ban on Twitter.

It went into effect on 5 June 2021 after the site removed a post from President Muhammadu Buhari that threatened to punish regional secessionists.

Ddirector general of the National Information Technology Development Agency,Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said that Buhari had given approval to lift the suspension.

“Twitter has agreed to act with a respectful acknowledgement of Nigerian laws and the national culture and history on which such legislation has been built,” Abdullahi’s statement said.

Abdullahi said that Twitter had agreed to appoint a country representative and comply local tax obligations.
