In a shocking statistic that has always been consigned to third world countries it has been revealed that half of HIV+ youths in the US are unaware of it.
A report by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention states that people between the age of 13 and 24 were responsible for 26% of new infections.
72% of of 12,000 new infections in 2010 were of black males. Nearly half of those came from men having sex with men.
22% of sexually active high school students have ever been tested. The figure rises to 35% for those between the age of 18 and 24.
A huge part of it comes from pretty much the same stigma we get in Africa. So the same challenges are faced everywhere.
