France’s National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has asked Apple to stop the sale of its its iPhone 12 from the French market due to its exceeding the specific absorption rate (SAR) limit observed on this model.

The request is from 12 September 2023, according to a release.

ANFR says the iPhone 12emits more electromagnetic waves susceptible to be absorbed by the body than permitted.

The agency has instructed the company to fix the issue, failure to which it would be require to recall phones already on the market.

It was found that the iPhone 12 emitted 5.74 W/kg for the limb, above the maximum of 4W/kg. That is about 30% above.

The phone was popular in Zimbabwe when it came out, and whole there have been three versions after, it will be interesting to see what happens elsewhere.
