Zimbabwe Women won by 9 wickets

Zimbabwe Women have topped their group in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Africa as their quest for the global one kept on track.

They did so by beating Tanzania Women by nine wickets at the Entebbe Cricket Oval, in Uganda.

Zimbabwe put Tanzania in after winning the toss, and soon the East Africans were down two wickets when Precious Marange removed Saum Godfrey and Monica Pascal in successive balls.

Fatuma Omar Kibasu helped put some resistance as she put on 22 off 37 (including two fours), while Neema Justice Pius was good for her 21.

The Tanzanian innings was not helped by four run-outs, meaning their innings really never got going as it should.

That is how they got out with the penultimate ball of the innings.

Captain Mary-Anne Musonda was quick off the blocks for Zimbabwe, hitting 33 off 27, opening with Modester Mupachikwa.

She became Mwanamvua Ushanga’s only victim, when she was out stumped.

Mupachikwa held up an end for her 22, while Chipo Mugeri Tiripano on the other end cracked four fours in her 25 off 20.

Zimbabwe now wait for their next opponent, likely to be Namibia in the semi finals.

The two teams who make it to the final will snag a ticket to the Global Qualifier.
