Zimbabwe Women one step away from African Games cricket gold medal

Zimbabwe Women have moved one closer to an African Games cricket gold medal after beating Nigeria Women by five wickets on Monday.

The win means Zimbabwe are the only team with a 100 percent record in the maiden entrance of the sport at the continental games.

They face South Africa in the final on Wednesday. It is not a full side, but it will be the most stern challenge they will face.

It has come on the back of impressive performances in all departments.

Modester Mupachikwa leads the standings with 119 runs. She became the first Zimbabwe Women player to get to 1,000 runs in T20 internationals during this tournament.

Kelis Ndhlovu is fourth with seven wickets, and Precious Marange fifth with six. The latter became the first player from her nation to get to 50 T20I wickets.
