Zimbabwe won by six wickets

Zimbabwe Women have inched closer to their dream as they clinched a semi-final spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier.

This is after they beat Thailand Women by six wickets on Monday.

Zimbabwe bowled well up-front, limiting Thailand to 86 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nannapat Khoncharoenkai scored an unbeaten 47, but that was all really. Chanda Sutthiruang scored 13 and Phannita Maya an unbeaten 12.

Nomvelo Sibanda was devastating again, taking two for 12 runs and Audrey Mazvishaya two for 14.

Zimbabwe flew off the blocks and scored 49 without losing a wicket in the powerplay.

Thailand should have taken chances given by both Sharne Mayers and Kelis Ndhlovu, but they were duly punished for failing to collect the catches.

They would eventually take a wicket, Mayers departing for 19 to Onnicha Kamchomphu.

But the 16-year-old Ndhlovu continued to impress and she scored 46, before she was bowled by Rosenan Kanoh.

After that there as a shaky period in which Zimbabwe lost Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and Mary-Anne Musonda cheaply.

Modester Mupachikwa with eight and Pellagia Mujaji with five took Zimbabwe hom, reaching 87 for the loss of four wickets, in 16.4 overs.

Zimbabwe now take on UAE in the final match as they seek to finish their group on top.
