Zimbabwe did all the hard work in their chase against Singapore only to lose by five runs in T20 match against the home side.
Having let Singapore get to 181/9 off the revised 18 overs, Zimbabwe started off well with Regis Chakabva making 48 off 18 balls.
Stand-in captain Sean Williams took on the bowlers next making 66 off 35 balls and when he departed Zimbabwe were still in the driving seat.
But wickets fell to bad shots in quick succession, and in the end, Zimbabwe could only make 177/7.
Earlier, Zimbabwe gave a debut to seamer Richard Ngarava who took 2-48 on debut. Ryan Burl got 2-24.
The positive for Zimbabwe is that in Regis Chakabva, they may very well have an opener.
The triangular series carries on and also involves Nepal who Zimbabwe will play on Tuesday.
