Zimbabwe smash Swaziland to get on the brink…

Zimbabwe put on one of their best halves  in recent memory as they powered past Swaziland 4-0 in a Group L 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at National Sports Stadium.

After a frustrating first half in which the hosts toiled to no end with one effort by Knowledge Musona to speak of, coach Kalisto Pasuwa needed to earn his money.

And that he did as Khama Billiat came on for the ineffective Marshal Mudehwe, one of five changes from the reverse fixture on Friday.

He was brought down in the 51st minute in the box and Musona pulled a panenka, probably the first ever in Zimbabwean history to put the hosts ahead.

Just a few minutes later, Billiat was again brought down and the resultant cross was found the head of Czech Republic based star Costa Nhamoinesu who headed in on the far post from a tight angle.

Evans Rusike came in for Nyasha Mushekwi and he forced an error in the box. The defender tried to clear the ball and the ball flew back past the keeper off the shin of Rusike.

The brilliant Billiat capped off his performance with a well taken goal from inside box, down to the right bottom corner.

The win means if the Malawi and Guinea fail to beat each other again on Tuesday all Zimbabwe will need to do is win their match against the Flames on May to qualify for their third Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Pauswa did his homework here. Well done.

Just a slight worry about our panic stations in defence. Intensity needed there.
