Zimbabwe, Rwanda share spoils

Zimbabwe and Rwanda picked up their first points of the 2026 Fifa World Cup Qualifier Group C campaign, after a 0-0 draw.

It was a game good chances were at a premium, with Zimbabwe controlling sections of the game while offering little in terms of creativity,

There were some nervy moments created by livewire forward Innocent Nshuti who often found himself in space but either wasted chances presented to him, or was thwarted by the tight centre-back pairing of Teenage Hadebe and Gerald Takwara.

There will be worry for Zimbabwe after Admiral Muskwe had to come off with an injury in the 21st minute. His replacement Terrence Dzvukamnja was industrious and carved a few moments for himself, although his lack of composure got the better of him.

Also impressive was France-based midfielder Marshall Munetsi, operating as a box-to-box midfielder, often pitching up in just behind the forwards to create chaotic moments.

At the end of the day, a draw was probably a fair result as both teams played with a little bit of caution.

For Zimbabwe coach Baltemar Brito, he will have been impressed with the tactical discipline. For the hosts, winless this year, a point was welcome.
