Zimbabwe, Netherlands qualify for T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe and the Netherlands have qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, after winning their Qualifier B semi-finals in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe beat Papua New Guinea by 27 runs.

Batting first they posted 199 for the loss of five wickets, buoyed by Wessly Madhevere’s 42, Craig Ervine with 38 and Regis Chakabva’s 30. Milton Shumba was unbeaten with 29, while Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams made 22 each.

Charles Armini took two for 28.

In response, Tony Ura had Zimbabwean hearts in their mouths, scoring off 35 before Sean Williams bowled him. He and Armini got 31 off 26.

Blessing Muzarabani took two for 24 and Wessly Madhevere one for.

Zimbabwe now meet the Netherlands in a final on Sunday at Queen’s Sports Club. The Dutch beat the USA by seven wickets.
