Zimbabwe lose to Kenya in Four Nations Tournament final

Zimbabwe finished second at the Four-Nations Tournament after a 3-1 defeat to Kenya in an explosive final on Tuesday in Lilongwe, Malawi.

The match was fiery, with three red cards and a brawl causing a long stoppage.

Zimbabwe started strong, scoring an own-goal early after Tino Kadewere’s cross was deflected into the Kenyan goal by Joseph Okumu.

Kenya came alive near halftime, equalising just before the break with a header by captain Micheal Olunga.

The second half got heated after a denied Zimbabwe penalty. Interim Head Coach Norman Mapeza was sent off for arguing with the referee, sparking a brawl. Teenage Hadebe received a second yellow card soon after, leaving Zimbabwe with ten men on the pitch, minus their gaffer.

Kenya took advantage of Zimbabwe’s manpower deficit with a second Olunga goal.

However, soon after, they were then reduced to ten men when Richard Odada got his second yellow card.

Olunga put the gam in the bag, completing his hat-trick with a long-range strike late in the game.
