Afghanistan continued their rich T20 form when they beat Zimbabwe by six wickets at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Smarting from their ODI series lost, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat and their openers Sikandar Raza(59) and Chamu Chibhabha(54) made light work of the bowlers as they rushed to 100-run opening stand.
The loss of Raza and Chibhabha slowed the hosts down as a score that could have easily gotten close to 200 got hamstrung. Man of the match Dawlat Zadran impressed with his death bowling.
The target of 153 always looked at least 30-runs short and the visitors fancied their chances in the chase.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers failed rarely kept line and length and the visitors took full advantage as they found the boundary with regular ease. This meant they were never really at risk of being too far behind on the run rate as they chased the par score for the loss of four wickets with 5 balls to spare.
The second T20I is on Wednesday at the same venue.
