Zimbabwe Creep Up FIFA Rankings

Zimbabwe continued its steady rise  up the FIFA rankings largely due to activity more than anything else.

The Warriors gained 7 positions and are now ranked 112 in the world on the back of wins against Malawi (108) and Comoros.

Algeria, ranked 19th in the world remain Africa’s number 1 followed by Cote D’Ivoire.

Copa America losing finalists Argentina took over the number one ranking from World champions Germany.

A surprise in the top 10 though is 8th placed Romania. Yes, Romania.

Zimbabwe will want to keep pushing themselves up the rankings because being in the lower end of the neighbourhood means that when draws happen, they tend to be find themselves playing really strong sides. Not only that, the route to group stages is always cumbersome.
