Zimbabwe beat Namibia 5-4 penalties as they made their return to international football in a Presidential Inauguration Cup match at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.
The match had ended 2-2 in regular time.
Zimbabwe twice took the lead, first through Thubelihle Jubane inside two minutes and then Farai Banda, all in the first half.
Namibia restored parity in the second half, as the Zimbabwe’s legs started giving way after the team was put together in a day. Some of them were in Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action yesterday evening.
Then came the penalties and after the lively Walter Musona failed to convert his, Namibia twice hit the crossbar.
Sunday Chidzambwa coached the side.
