Michael Nees got his first win since appointment as Zimbabwe head coach after his side held on for a 1-0 win against Namibia in an Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) matchday three tie at Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Zimbabwe got their goal in 33rd minute against the run of play.

Khama Billiat converted from the penalty spot. His timid effort looked as if it would be saved by Edward Maova, but an uneven bounce just before his hand saw the ball make it into the back of the net.

In the second half, Zimbabwe were largely camped in their own half as Namibia sought an equaliser. Whether it was free kicks or shots taken, they either missed the target or shot straight at Washington Arubi.

In the end, the Warriors got their win, ugly as it was. They will not mind.

The two sides next meet on Monday at the same venue.
