ZIFA Statement On Zim-Zambia Match Farce

The Zimbabwe Football Association  has released a statement on the farcical postponement of the CHAN qualifier between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

It reads…

Following a meeting between hosts ZIFA and FAZ in Harare, the CHAN qualifier match between Zimbabwe and Zambia will be played next week Sunday. The match which was initially scheduled for 15:00hrs Sunday 11th August was moved to 16:30hrs to allow enough time for match officials to arrive but after failure of the referees from Cameroun to land in Harare before that time, the game was put off.

The Zambia delegation in Harare, led by FAZ chief Kalusha Bwalya, rejected proposals to play the match on Monday 12th August as doing so would have put into jeopardy Zambia’s international friendly match against Senegal in Paris.

The return leg remains unchanged for 24th August.

Oh well…
