Williams, Ervine hand Zimbabwe victory in final match of Ireland tour

Zimbabwe have concluded their dismal tour of Ireland with an eight wicket victory in a Y20I on Sunday.

Having been smacked sideways to Sunday in the second T20I they lost by nine wickets Zimbabwe came into this match hoping to pick up a victory.

They won the toss and chose to bowl. Sean Williams opened the innings and got a first ball wicket getting rid of Paul Stirling.

Out next was Kevin O’brien, one of two victims in three balls for Kyle Jarvis.

Wickets fell regularly but the runs kept coming with Mark Adair scoring 38 off just 15 balls.

Captain Gary Wilson top-scored with 47 off 47 as Ireland made 171/9 off their 20 overs.

Tendai Chatara returned 2-35 while Kyle Jarvis got 3-38.

Zimbabwe got off to a bad start when captain Hamilton Masakadza went out for 0.

Brendan Taylor in his new role as opener rushed to 39 off 20 balls.

Craig Ervine (68) and Williams (58) saw the game out with 28 balls to spare in the end. They made 172/2.

Having lost the ODI series 3-0 and drawing the T20 series, this was by no stretch of the imagination, a mess.
