Williams back for 2nd ODI, Muzarabani still not ready

Sean Williams PIC: Zimbabwe Cricket

Sean Williams will be available for selection for Zimbabwe’s second One Day International against Australia, head coach Dave Houghton.

Speaking to media before the match in Australia he said, “It was just an external blow. It was not on the muscle or anything. He didn’t feel anything over night but the next day he could hardly make a fist.”

Speaking of whether this affected his plans given Wessly Madhevere had scored runs in the first ODI, Houghton said, “It does and it doesn’t really. Because given the way the wicket has played, we went in with four seamers and one of our seamers only bowled four overs. Sean is one of our spinners. So we were thinking about an extra spinner anyway so it will probably just work out that way.”

The good news ended there as Houghton revealed that Blessing Muzarabani realisticall would not play on this tour, but added that it was good thing he was on tour so he could be helped and looked after/

Houghton said his focus is on getting the tall lanky pacer ready for the World Cup.

The second ODI is at 1.40am Zimbabwe time and available for African viewers on SuperSport. Check local listings.
