Kaizer Chiefs have dismissed all suggestions that that their star playmaker Khama Billiat is set to leave the club for ABSA Premiership rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
In a statement the club said:
Kaizer Chiefs would like to put it on record that the information being peddled in the media about the club negotiating with Mamelodi Sundowns is COMPLETELY FALSE AND UNCALLED FOR.
Yep, caps lock must means someone was having a shout.
Chiefs say an approach was made during the Africa Cup of Nations by Sundowns, which was knocked back so far it was almost accused of border jumping into another territory.
The statement also calls the Zimbabwe international, ‘committed to Kaizer Chiefs’.
And it gets a bit testy. Now, because a Sundowns official was quoted saying his side fancied Billiat’s bits and that discussions were under way, Chiefs say they will consider giving their lawyers a call, and not just to say hi.
Following the article published online yesterday quoting a Sundowns official, we are considering taking action to deal with the matter. This unethical behaviour cannot and should not be tolerated.
Well then…
