Zimbabwe cricket coach Heath Streak has said that he wants his team going for wins rather than simply competing to stay in games.
Speaking before the three-day warm up match scheduled to start on 20 December 2017 at Boland Park in Paarl, Streak spoke was not under any illusion about what playing in the long format meant but he said he wanted growth:
We’d rather lose playing a winning brand than just competing. We’ll have challenges especially in the longer format because we don’t play that much but from what I see this team is going places and will continue to grow and get better.
Skipper Graeme Cremer spoke of what the targets for the three-day warm-up were:
We’ve had two sessions under lights with the pink ball and it was good to see how it reacts. In the three-day game against good opposition we’ll look to get our game plan and tactics ready for the Test match.
Zimbabwe play South Africa in the first ever four day test in Port Elizabeth that kicks off on Boxing Day.
Wednesday match starts off at 15.30hrs.
