Zimbabwe will need more games if it is to continue its upward trajectory in international cricket, coach Lalchand Rajput has said.
In 2018, Zimbabwe only played two tests, both in a series against Bangladesh. The situation is not expected to improve much as an ICC financial deal will mean less matches for the Chevrons.
What is more, their next scheduled match is the tour of India where they are scheduled play a test and three ODIs in March.
Rajput says he has talked to the board about this:
The more you play, the better you become… We started off in South Africa, we started getting better and better. When we came here [Bangladesh], we were in good nick… Our seamers have really bowled well because none of the top order batsmen has scored against us… After this test match there is no cricket. I have been telling the board we have to play some games because the next test match against India which is a big effort… So we should have some cricket in January and February before we go to India.
