WATCH: Premier League celebrate Peter Ndlovu as first ever African goal scorer

The Premier League this weekend shared a video celebrating former Zimbabwe international captain Peter Ndlovu.

Ndlovu holds the distinction of being the first African to play in the English top flight, when he turned out for Coventry City. That was in the league’s debut and he did so on 19 August 1992 against Tottenham Hotspur.

On top of that, he is the first African to score in the world’s most popular football league. Then still a teenager, he scored that goal 2 September 1992, in 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The recognition of Ndlovu is part of Black History Month.
