Zimbabwe are three days away from their first match at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) adventure in Cameroon.
Here are the updates:
Jordan Zemura
AFC Bournemouth manager Scott Parker on Thursdays said the left back is still in the UK. His exact words were, “He is still in the UK at this present moment in time, yes.” At this moment in time means that Zemura could still travel but that means the Warriors are cutting it close. He certainly won’t be included in the first match day squad for Monday’s clash against Senegal.
Captain speaks
Zimbabwe Captain Knowledge Musona has spoken about the preps, particularly money issues. He said, “I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission [government] for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021. This means a lot to us as players and we really appreciate it. As players, we are extremely grateful because it shows us how deeply our government cares about us and football. It will motivate us to do well and fight for the country as we always do. The team can now fully focus on preparing well for the tournament without any distractions. We are extremely grateful.”
Zimbabwe are in the same group with Malawi, Senegal and Guinea.
