Update on Kevin Kasuza injury

An update has been given on Zimbabwe’s debut test opener who was struck on the helmet with the ball and had to go off before lunch in the test match against Sri Lanka at Harare Sports Club.

The news is that he has had a soft tissue injury on his skull.

The check for concussion is negative, even though there were worries there may have been signs. It has come negative which is good news.

The medical team will check on him overnight however.

If he should fail to make a recovery in time, that will mean Brian Mudzinganyama will take his place and make his debut for Zimbabwe. And if there is a concussion injury it could mean that Mudzinganyama remains for the second test as concussion protocols after confirmation require a seven-day period of assessment.

After his debut, we wish Kasuza well.
