Two players kicked out of Under-20 squad over indiscipline

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has ejected two footballers out of its Under-20 squad for the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi this week.

“Elton Chikona (Dynamos FC) and Leon Daka (Herentals FC) have been released from the U20 men’s national team training camp and were unable to accompany the team to Malawi due to breaches in team protocols,” Zifa said.

“While this situation is regrettable, ZIFA considers it a vital disciplinary measure in its efforts to instil [sp] a new team culture characterized by respect for coaches, teammates, and a strong commitment to discipline,” it included.

Simon Marange kicks off his tenure as head coach of the Under-20s at the tournament on 21 April.

Other teams in the event are Malawi, Kenya and Zambia.
