Takashinga Patriots 1 won by 47 runs (Duckworth-Lewis method)

A brilliant century from Tinashe Kamunhukamwe helped Takashinga Patriots 1 to continue their winning ways in the National Premier League as they recorded a 47-run victory by Duckworth-Lewis over Scorpions at Masvingo Sports Club on Wednesday.

Scorpions were to regret putting the Harare side in to bat as they began with a 132-run opening partnership in just 15 overs between Kamunhukamwe and Joylord Gumbie (38).

Kamunhukamwe was the second man out at 152, of which he scored 107 himself, with six sixes and 10 fours.

Later on, Wellington Masakadza hit well to make 44 off 24 balls and Richard Ngarava finished the innings with an unbeaten 33 off 16 deliveries, to give a total of 295 for seven off 43 overs.

This match was cut a little short due to a late start and then bad light towards the end.

Scorpions put up a good fight, with 50 from Takunda Madembo and 44 from Gabriel Jaya, but they were not able to maintain the required run rate and the team fell behind the clock.

Tendai Chisoro, making a welcome return to Zimbabwean cricket, hit powerfully to make 51 off 31 balls, but Scorpions could manage only 202 for six wickets before time ran out for them as light deteriorated.

Prosper Mugeri was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 51 runs.
