T20: Masakadza powers Mountaneers to win while Eagles beat Tuskers

He posted 88  and took 2 wickets for 8 as his side restricted the midlands side to 133  chasing a target of 186.

Masakadza powerd to his score off just 58 balls (including seven fours and five sixes) with able assistance from Kevin Kasuza (41) and smaller contributions from other batsmen as the Manicaland side ended on 186/4.

Rhinos suffered an early setback as they lost their openers cheaply with Tarisai Musakanda (41) national player Peter Moor (31) the only ones to make a dent on the score as they were bowled out for 133.

Meanwhile, Mashonaland Eagles opened their account with a six wicket victory over Matabeleland Tuskers at Queens Sports Club.

Set a target of 151, the Harare side achieved it with give balls to spare thanks to a half century from Chamu Chibhabha and his Chevrons team mate Sikandar Raza Butt contributing 26 to the tally.

This, unfortunately, meant Brian Chari’s impressive effort with the bat had gone in vain – his 35-ball 55 had given Tuskers a perfect platform to build a strong lead.
