SRC asks Fifa to remove Zifa board

The Sport and Recreation Commission has written to Fifa to request the removal of the Zimbabwe Football Association board.

The statement issued said:

The SRC has of today, this 15th August 2019 written to the Secretary General of the FIFA requesting that FIFA invoke Article (8)(2) of the General Provisions of the FIFA Statues to remove from office the entire ZIFA board and to replace it with a normalisation Committee.

The SRC has reserved its right in terms of the same correspondence, to act in terms of section 30 of the SRC act and suspend the entire Board itself. 

The move comes on the back of shambolic Africa Cup of Nations campaign in the hands of Felton Kamambo.

On top of that has been a suspension of the men’s national team from the 2020 Cosafa Cup followed by attempts to recall Cosafa president Philip Chiyangwa from his position. That having failed, they have banned him for life and expelled Chamu Chiwanza from their executive. And with three weeks to go before a World Cup qualifying match, they have fired the entire technical team and disbanded the men’s national team.
