Zimbabwe cricket pair Sikandar Raza and Faraz Akram have been honoured by the Pakistan government.
They have been named under an initiative called the Foreign Minister’s Honours List 2021. This recognises the achievements of overseas Pakistanis.
Raza was born in Pakistan, while Faraz’s family has roots from that country.
This is the second edition of the inititiative and this year, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, acknowledged outstanding young Pakistanis from across the globe, under the theme “Leaders under 40.”
These are part of the country’s Independence Day commemorations.
Raza has represented Zimbabwe in 17 Tests, 101 ODIs and 42 T20Is. He recently captained a young Zimbabwe side in a T20I series against Bangladesh, winning one and losing two. The all-rounder is expected to be picked for the upcoming tour of Ireland and Scotland.
Faraz has played two T20Is for Zimbabwe and is currently with the Emerging Side in Namibia
