Just days after winning the presidency of football’s world governing body Fifa, Sepp Blatter is to step down.
He will call another election and will not be standing in that election. People who want to stand for the head of an organisation that has never been more vulnerable and divided. This will be in the next four months:
Although the members of Fifa gave me a new mandate, this mandate does not seem to be supported by everyone in the world.
This is why I will call an extraordinary congress to held as soon as possible for a new president elected to follow me as new president with a new election held.
Such a congress would be between December 2015 and March 2016.
It would appear the current corruptions that have rocked the organisation. This is especially so after the light seemed to shine on Jerome Valcke, his general secretary.
Blatter says the game needs a complete organisation and he will be involved in the game even after quitting particularly with cleaning it up.
Dominico Scala will head a new raft of reforms that will restructure the organisation and change the way the game is run.
