Sean Williams reaches career-best ranking in test cricket

Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams has reached a career-high in test cricket rankings according to the latest listing.

Williams is now ranked 24th following his exploits against Afghanistan with 621 rating points. It is the highest number by a Zimbabwean since Brendan Taylor’s 684 in 2014. Taylor himself, while inactive remains in the top 30 at number 29.

Also movin up the rankings was Sikandar Raza who now sits at 46, one position ahead of teammate Craig Ervine. Ervine did not play in the series against Afghanistan.

Regis Chakabva is the only other Zimbabwe batsman in the top 100. He sits at number 99.

The biggest mover in the rankings was Afghanistan’s Hashmatullah Shahidi leaping 47 spots to 90th, after becoming the first person from his country to score a double-century.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson sits at the top spot.

In the bowling department, the inactive Kyle Jarvis remains the highest in the ranking for Zimbabwe at 54. Sikandar Raza (57), Victor Nyauchi (71), Blessing Muzarabani (80), Donald Tiripano (85), Williams (87) and Ryan Burl (960 make up the Chevrons players in the top 100.
