Penalty heartbreak for Zimbabwe as Namibia advance

Zimbabwe will miss out on the African Championship of Nations (CHAN) for the first time ever after losing 5-4 on penalties to Namibia at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

Sunday Chidzambwa had never lost a match at home and after 90 minutes this remained true as Prince Dube’s 39th minute strike cancelled the advantage Namibia had in the first leg.

Chances were few and far between for the Warriors as they huffed and puffed, but never threatened with the final ball.

Namibia had the best chance in injury time and Dennis Dauda had to clear off the line.

That just postponed the heartbreak.

Having scored the first three in a row Herbert Rusawo, the Warriors goalkeeper had his attempt saved.

Namibia converted their remaining chances and Zimbabwe were bundled out.
