Captain Ovidy Karuru scored twice a wasteful Zimbabwe beat Mozambique 4-0 in their opening Castle Lager Cosafa Cup 2017 match.
By the time Karuru opened the scoring in the 43rd minute Zimbabwe could have led by at least half dozen but one after the other they conspired to miss chances as they came in.
It was a well taken goal as he ran onto a pass, rounded the keeper and scored from an angle.
Again chances came and went in the second half before a powerful header by Karuru doubled the Warriors’ lead.
Before that Knox Mutiza was wrongly called offside
Scandalous call by linesman to deny Mutizwa. He's behind the action and there's even a defender playing him on #Zimbabwe #Mozambique #COSAFA pic.twitter.com/RZnVB9lLVL

And then came a beauty. Ocean Mushure set the ball down for a free kick from the far sright side outside the box. He put his left peg to it. It sailed beautifully into the top corner to send the Zimbabwe crowd into a party.
Blessing Majarira, from Herentals in Division One showed what more experienced players than him should have been doing, charging down the left and then placing his shot past the keeper, in the far bottom corner.
A victory it is but Sunday Chidzambwa’s men failed to convert so many one-on-one chances, it was embarrassing.
