OPPORTUNITY: Zimbabwe Cricket looking for Franchise General Managers

Zimbabwe Cricket has sent out a call for applications to work as General Manager for its Tuskers, Rhinos, Mountaineers and Eagles franchises.

The job objectives are listed as :

The Franchise General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the franchise. He/she will lead the franchise, work closely with Zimbabwe Cricket and other stakeholders to provide effective leadership and administration of the game of cricket in the franchise.

Some of the duties including strategies for long and short term development. Interesting to see that there is a section that lists a duty as ‘ toensure the Franchise is appropriately organised and staffed and to have the authority to hire and terminate staff as necessary to enable it to achieve the approved strategy’.

The person should ‘be able to raise and develop new business activities for the Franchise and be able to acquire and service cricket commercial partners and endorsements’.

With the recent announcement that a lot of contracts would not be renewed it would appear that those let go from Maiden Drive will probably find a home at one of the franchises, given the authority given to the GM.

A deep knowledge of cricket and some sports administration experience would be an added advantage. And a relevant first degree as well as five years professional experience in a senior management position is listed as requirement.

The call is being made in the midst of a restructuring exercise with the oversight of the International Cricket Council.

Interested applicants are requested to send their CVs to Nesta Vaki at nestav[at]zimcricket.org Closing date is Friday 21 September 2018, says the document.
