NPL T20 Blast 2021-22 Matchday 3 roundup: Lions, Westside win again

Kevin Kasuza continued his red-hot form for Westside Cricket Club as he helped his side to an eight-wicket victory over Gladiators Cricket Club in a National Premier League (NPL) T20 Blast matchday three game at Mutare Sports Club on Sunday.

He smashed an unbeaten 77 off just 44 balls, including five fours and seven sixes. Clive Chitumba scored 49 off 29.

Westside reached their target in 15.3 overs, scoring 147 for the loss of two wickets, having limited Gladiators to 143 for eight.

Tatenda Matimbe top-scored for Gladiators with 48, while Naison Mare made 26.

Hendrick Macheke took two for 12, Frank Mwazviita two for 17 and Prosper Mugeri two for 29.

At Kwekwe Sports Club, Lions beat Bulawayo Athletic Club by 31 runs.

Lions made 140 for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Cephas Zhuwao top-scored with 39, Aliakbar Hamid 33 and Jonathan Campbell 29.

Tanatswa Bechani too four for 25 and Flemming Nkomo two for 24.

BAC could only make 109 for the loss of eight wickets. Bechani made 28 and Allan Chigoma 25.

Marshall Takodza took three for eight.

Takashinga 2 took the bragging rights when they beat their brother-side Takashinga 1 by 45 runs at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Takashinga 2 scored 143 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs, thanks to knocks from Tariro Mukauyo with 46 and Tafadzwa Tsiga’s 29.

Roy Kaia took three for 21.

Takashinga 1 never really got going and were bowled out for 98 in 18 overs.

Honest Ziwira grabbed three for 11, Daich Nyandoro two for 15 and Tendai Nyamayaro two for 18.
