NPL T20 Blast 2021-22 Matchday 2 roundup: Kasuza goes berserk

Kevin Kasuza blasted an incredible 71 off just 14 balls on matchday two of the inaugural National Premier League (NPL) T20 Blast.

His effort helped Westside Cricket Club to an eight-wicket win over Takashinga 1 at Mutare Sports Club.

Kasuza blasted nine sixes and four fours in a match which had been reduced to ten overs in leading his side 129 for two in 7.4 overs. So impressive was his hitting that he got to 50 off just nine balls.

Clive Chitumba scored 27 of 10 balls, Tinashe Muchawaya an unbeaten 16 off 11.

Kasuza overshadowed an impressive 74 off just 34 from Tinashe Kamunhukamwe as Westside made 125 for two. His effort had six sixes and four fours.

Danie Zvidzai had 29 off 14.

Lions picked up a handy four-wicket win over Gladiators Cricket Club at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Gladiators made 133 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.

Tony Munyonga scored 54 off 43 and Naison Mare 32 off 40.

Wallace Tapiwanashe Mubaiwa took two for 20 and Tashinga Musekiwa two for 34.

Spencer Mugodo’s 34 and Aliakbar Hamid’s 32 were the highlights as Lions chased down their target with five balls to spare.

Malcolm Chukugwa took two for 23 and Tatenda Matimbe two for 25.

At Kwekwe Sports Club, Bulawayo Athletic Club beat Takashinga 2 by seven wickets.

Takashinga 2 posted 78 for the loss of seven wickets on the back of an unbeaten 25 from Charles Kunje.

Tanatswa Bechani took three for seven and Nkosana Mpofu two for 14.

Nyasha Mayavo cracked 56 off 40, including eight fours and a six as BAC chased down their target in 13.1 overs.

They reached 82 for three.

Daich Nyandoro took two for 17 and Nigel Mupurura one for nine.
