NPL play-offs decided as Kamunhukamwe, Maposa smash double-hundreds

The drama of the Zimbabwe Cricket National Premier League (NPL) playoffs is now over after a round of matches completed the knock-out section.

With the tournament now expanded to 14 teams, there were five slots in total via playoff.

Kadoma Cricket Club had already booked their place in the tournament after beating Kwekwe Cricket Club.

On Saturday, Matabeleland South’s Golden Bulls, buoyed by Tinotenda Maposa’s 213 off 140 balls put up 358 all out in 57 overs. Masvingo’s Lowveld Warthogs never really got going and the they were bowled out for 128. Maposa returned to take five for 44.

Bulawayo Athletic are making a return to the NPL. They beat Mosi Titans from Matabeleland North by nine wickets. Flemming Nkomo took four for eight and Isaiah Musarerevhu four for 17 in bowlingg Mosi Titans out for 61 in 11.5 overs. BAC reached 63 for the loss of one in .5 overs.

Donald Tiripano took four for 29 in helping Manicaland’s Mutare Sports Club to five-wicket win over Masters Cricet Club from Mashonaland East. For Masters, Panashe Gwatiringa scored 55 but they were bowled out or 155 in 34.1 overs. Nigel Bonyongwe led the way with 70 in Mutare getting 156 for five in 355 overs.

Finally, on Sunday, Harare’s Takashinga 2 crushed Mashonaland Central outfit Wadzanai Cricket Club by 319 runs. There were a couple of big highlights. Takashinga 2 made 468 for eight in 45 overs. That included 204 from Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and 122 for Dion Myers. In response, Wadzanai were bowled out for 149.
