Takasinga 1 won by six wickets

Innocent Kaia cracked an aggressive 80 off 64 balls a his Takashinga 1 Cricket Club chased down Queens Sports Ports Cub, to hand them a six wicket defeat in a matchday seven National Premier League (NPL) tie at Kwekwe Sports Club

His unbeaten effort delivered nine fours and two sixes as the Harare side made light work of a modest total.

Veterans Roy Kaia and Chamu Chibhabha both made 23, the former unbeaten.

This was after Takashinga 1 had won the toss and chosen to field first.

When they were not taking wickets, they were not letting Queens get anything. That Tapiwa Mufudza bowled his nine overs and only conceded at 1.67 was not an outlier. The worse economy rate was that for part-timer Tinashe Kamunhukamwe who conceded 20 from his four overs, but still managed to get a wicket.

The win keeps Takashinga 1 in the race with six matches to go.

Bulawayo Athletic Club 69 all out in 23.4 overs (Palvin Ndlovu 21; Arnlod Shara 3-12, Tawanda Maphosa 3-12, Ernest Masuku 2-4)

Amakhosi Cricket Club won by eight wickets

Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) had a day to forget as they were hammered by eight wickets in city derby, against Amakhosi Cricket Club.

Both teams came into the match with two wins, in what was billed to be a tight match.

Having been put in to bat, BAC got hurt from the start and throughout. Palvin Ndlovu was the highest scorer, and even his meager 21 was standout as no other batsman got to double figures.

Amakhosin made light work of it, despite losing two wickets, to chase the total down in 17.1 overs.

The match was done before 2pm.

The match was at Bulawayo Athletic.

Kadoma Cricket Club 152 all out in 36.5 overs (Takudzwanaishe Kaitano 42, Terrence Makoroma 34; Matthew Campbell 7-24, Calton Takawira 1-17)

Rainbow Cricket Club 154/6 in 23.2 overs (Robert Chiminya 43*, Ronak Patel 33, ;Kudakwashe Macheka 4-36, Tashinga Musekiwa 2-42)

Rainbow Cricket Club won by four wickets

Matthew Campbell took NPL career best figures of seven for 24 as his Rainbow Cricket Club side picked up a four-wicket win over Kadoma Cricket Club at Old Hararians Sports Club.

The son of former Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell has caught the eye, after his breakout performance in Zim Afro T10, and has carried that form to club cricket.

Only Takudzwanaishe Kaitano (42) and Terrence Makoroma (34) provided a modicum of resistance.

Campbell survived only two balls for a rare duck, but Zimbabwe Under-19 hopeful Ronak Patel took advantage with a handy 33. Both fell to Kudawashe Macheka, who while largely disciplined, sometimes struggled for line.

Robert Chiminya made sure of the win with an unbeaten 43.

Scorpions Cricket Club 238/9 in 45 overs (Jayden Schandendorf 88, Blessed Mutize 71; Courage Gwaranda 3-45, Luke Jongwe 2-20, Kirby Madaramete)

Uprising Cricket Club 242/5 in 38.5 overs (Tariro Makauyo 74, Brian Bennett 65*; {Praise Makaza 2-43, Jayden Scadendorf 1-26)

Uprising Cricket Club won by five wickets

Uprising continued with their 100 percent record as they beat Scorpions Cricket Club by five wickets at Takashinga Sports Club.

Jayden Schandendorf put on a dogged 88 and Blessed Mutize 71, as part of the pair’s 162-run second-wicket partnership.

A big total looked to be on the offing but 61 off the last nine overs was a moderate return, as wickets fell with regularity.

Tariro Makauyo continued to impress, with his third half-century of this season. He contributed 74.

Former under-19 star Brian Bennett’s pedigree continues to grow, and his unbeaten 65 will have done no harm to the interest developing in him.

Captain Gilford Muzeya’s45 made sure the chase was never in doubt.

Westside Cricket Club 265/9 in 45 overs (Definate Mawadzi 129, Prosper Mugeri 72*; John Masara 2-31, Tendai Chatara 2-35, Tatenda Mupunga 2-43)

Mutare Sports Club 268/7 in 43.3 overs (Donald Tiripano 103*, Clive Chitumba 44, Kudzai Sauramba 40; Vincent Masekesa 3-72, Frank Mwazviiita 2-41)

Mutare Sports Club won by three wickets

Veteran Zimbabwe international Donald Tiripano rolled back the years as he smashed an unbowed century to lead Mutare Sports Club to at three-wicket victory over Westside Cricket Club.

His 103 came off just 86 balls, which included 11 fours.

Tiripano built on the earlier Clive Chitumba (44) and Kudzai Sauramba (40) innings, coming in at number five. At that point it looked as if it would get pear-shaped but the wily bowler with a bat showed prowess, as bowlers were hung draw and quartered from his blade.

John Masara was of particular assistance as he made 35, keeping an end alive as the pillaging continued on the other.

That blunted the earlier effort by Definate Mwadzi who hit 129 off 132. This rescued Mutare, who were at some point 60 for the loss of five wickets.

Propser Mugeri also contributed with an unbeaten 72, but it was all in vain.

The match was at Mutare Sports Club.
