Ngezi Platinum Stars dumped out of Africa

Ngezi Platinum Stars’ fairy tale run in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an abrupt end as they were held to a goalless draw in Harare on Saturday.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, the Zimbabwean side needed a single goal to beat Clube Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo.

Ngezi created chance after chance but failed to convert any of them.

Libolo came into the game fighting for a draw, using delaying tactics to interrupt the flow of the hosts. In effect Ngezi goalminder Nelson Chadya was a virtual spectator.

The one time Ngezi got the ball in the back of the net through Liberty Chakoroma, the effort was chalked off due to offside.

They are out but for a club that will be going into only their third season in the top flight, just being there will be a big deal and they will want to make sure hey have another taste. That all depends on them having a good 2017 season.
