Announcing the news yesterday the league and the National Basketball Players Association said that the game will take place on August1 at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The game will be a matchup of the NBA’s first- and second-generation African players against NBA players from the U.S. and the rest of the world.

South Sudan-born and Miami Heat forward Luol Deng is expected to be the captain of Team Africa while Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul will be the captain of Team World.

For those looking forward to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars the full rosters of players, coaches and legends will be announced at a later date.

Still this remains good news.

Locally, basketball remains a darling of many judging by the number of fans who thronged the City Sports Centre in 2012 during the Sprite Street-ball tour.

The tour which brought the legendary And 1 team saw stars such as Hot sauce, Spyda and Baby Shaq squaring off with a Zim select side that included Robert Mugabe Junior.
