Zimbabwe Women won by 32 runs
Zimbabwe Women star Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano scored her second T20 international half-century, as she helped her side to run victory over victory Papua New Guinea Women at Harare Sports Club, to clinch the series 2-1.
PNG won the toss and chose to field under lights.
Modester Mupahikwa had a rare misstep, caught off Buruka Vicky with the first ball of the match.
Sharne Mayers’s miserable run continued as she was removed by the same bowler for one off six balls.
Captain Mary-Anne Musonda combined for a 25-run partnership with Mugeri-Tiripano. The former was run out for off 16.
Kelis Ndhlovu came to the crease and the fourth wicket yielder 82, with the teenage sensation scoring 35 off 32. She was one of three run-outs in the innings.
Mugeri-Tiripano would be the last of the lot, off the penultimate ball. She had scored 66, which included nine fours.
Josephine Nkomo had PNG rocking on the back foot, taking Sibona Jimmy’s wicket in the first over.
Although Tanya Ruma and Naoani Vare then put on 62 for the second wicket, they never got going, unable to flay the locals. Vare departed for 20 off 45, while Ruma made an unbeaten 56.
Though Zimbabwe restricted PNG, they will be disappointed with the 16 extras conceded, especially with 11 of them as wides.
The win sees Zimbabwe win both the ODI and WT20I series.
