Masiyiwa linked to purchase of SuperSport United

Strive Masiyiwa

Zimbabwe billionaire Strive Masiyiwa could be about to buy DStv Premiership side SuperSport United, if reports in South Africa are to be believed.

Reports say the purchase is so far down the road that it is now subject to approval from the Premier Soccer League executive committee.

South African journalist Maskepe Matsebane says although a Wits consortium was keen on taking over the club, it was Masiyiwa who was closing in on an acquisition before the start of the 2022/23 season.

He added that Masiyiwa would not rename the side, although that would not be the same for the Wits folks.

Of billionaires and football clubs.
