Mash West batter Mash East to claim 2024 Associate Provincial League

Mashonaland West are the 2024 Associate Provincial League after absolutely smothering Mashonaland East by 215 runs in a final held at Takashinga Cricket Club on Sunday..

Batting first, Mash West put on an imposing total, 289 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Terrence Makoroma spearheaded the attack, scoring 106 off 132 balls, with three fours and nine sixes. he had a partnership with Villan Changa (44) worth 85 runs for the third wicket, and 74 with Ahsan Aqil Ali (36) for the fourth.

He fell after 40.3 overs, caught behind off the bowling of Under-19 Cricket World Cup star Anesu Kamuriwo.

Kamuriwo took three for 38 and fellow world cup participant Takawira three for 51.

Mashonaland East’s response was disastrous. Five of their batsman failed to score a single run, with only Brendon Sunguro (27), Tatenda Chimugoro (17) getting double figures. Their partnership of 40 was the only one of significance.

Mansong Chikowero grabbed four wickets for 22 and Davis Murwendo three for 16.
