Cape Town Samp Army won by 16 runs

Cape Town Samp Army became the first team to win two matches in the same day in the Zim Cyber City Zim Afro T10 at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

Lets start with the first match.

The Cape Town Samp Army batted first, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the attack against the Harare Hurricanes bowlers. However, because to a misunderstanding between the openers, Cephas Zhuwao was run-out for 4 at the start of the third over. Gurbaz, on the other hand, was unable to build on his start and was removed by Luke Jongwe for 25 while attempting to clear the boundary.

Wickets fell at exceedingly regular frequency for the Samp Army.

The Samp Army were 47 for the loss of three at the halfway point and seeking to push on in the latter part of the innings.

As highlights, TomCurran was run-out for 15 in the 8th over, after which, the Samp Army lost Patel for 5, but a quick 20 from 8 deliveries by Tadiwanashe Marumani helped them post 112.

In response, Evin Lewis and Robin Uthappa got off to a quick start, putting on a 33-run stand for the first wicket before the former was out for 16. Nonetheless, Uthappa kept attacking from the end and was looking fantastic.

The Samp Army struck twice in the seventh over, with Richard Ngarava dismissing Donovan Ferreira for 14 and Uthappa (31 off 20 deliveries). At this time, the Hurricanes, led by captain Eoin Morgan and Mohammad Nabi in the middle, seemed course for victory but would have to be cautious in the closing overs.

Morgan departed for two, at the hands of Currran, who also accounted for Irfan Pathan on four.

At 91 for the loss of five, with one over, there was nothing to show, and so it would be.

Joburg Buffaloes – 94/4 in 10 overs (Tom Banton – 55*, Mushfiqur Rahim – 19; Tendai Chatara – 2/14, Azmatullah Omerzai – 1/16)

Durban Qalandars – 97/3 (Hazratullah Zazai – 41*, Asif Ali – 23; Mohammad Hafeez – 2/13, Noor Ahmed – 1/16)

Durban Qalandars won by seven wickets

Durban Qalandars became the first team to chase down a total when they beat the Joburg Buffaloes by seven wickets.

To, Banton became the second player to score a half-century but his explosive unbeaten 55 was the oasis around a land littered with the punitive exploits of chief among them Tendai Chayar and gave so little away.

94 for the loss of four was never enough.

Nonetheless, Hazratullah Zazai and Andre Fletcher put together a crucial 25-run stand to keep the Qalandars in control of the game.

Fletcher, on the other hand, was unable to kick and was dismissed by Hafeez for 12, following which Asif Ali joined Zazai in the middle with the game on the line. The Qalandars needed 22 runs in the final three overs to win, with Zazai and Ali leading the way.

Zazai took charge for the Qalandars from then on, while Ali chipped in with a couple of great hits before Hafeez got through, picking the wicket of Ali for 23, who was stumped while seeking to go big hit. During their partnership, Zazai and Ali put up 42 runs.

Zazai sealed the victory with a massive six over mid-wicket in the penultimate ball, remaining unbeaten on 41.

Bulawayo Braves – 86/6 (Ben McDermott – 27, Kobe Herft – 18; Tom Curran – 2/12, Peter Hatzoglou – 2/23)

Cape Town Samp Army – 87/2 (Tadiwanashe Marumani – 43*, Matthew Breetzke – 29*; Taskin Ahmed – 1/18, Tanaka Chivanga – 1/21)

Cape Town Samp Army won by eight wickets

Marumani helped his Samp Army side to an unbeaten and top-spot moment after day two of the tournament.

Opening in the second innimgs, he helped them hunt down a modest total, with a brilliant knock of 43 unbeaten.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz had gone for a duck and Bhanuka Rajapaksa fell victim to Tanaka Chivanga on eight.

But with Matthew Breetzke’s unbeaten 29, Marumani helped the Samp Army to the total with 19 balls to spare.

Earlier the Bulawayo Braves went from scoring the highest score of the tournament in the first match to the lowest in their third.

Ben McDermott put on an effort of 27, while Kobe Herft scored 18.
